Gary Elkins, Ph.D.: Clinical Hypnosis for Anxiety and Pain Management
This Clinical Hypnosis Workshop will provide professional training in both the theory and application of hypnotherapy for anxiety, pain and behavioural medicine. Attendees will gain applied knowledge and practical skills regarding hypnotic interventions in the areas of pain management, treatment of anxiety, assessment of hypnotizability in clinical practice, and treatment planning. This is an innovative workshop which offers an in-depth exposure to a variety of experientially-based methods for working with individuals and couples in the management of symptoms. Attendees will gain applied knowledge and practical skills regarding hypnotic interventions in the areas of health psychology and symptom management. Moreover, attendees will learn “cutting edge” applications of hypnotherapy such as treatment of hot flashes in breast cancer survivors and post-menopausal women, and treatment of insomnia and sleep problems.Elvira Lang, M.D.: No Fears, No Tears During Diagnostic and Medical Procedures
This workshop will focus on techniques designed to rapidly diffuse tension, anxiety, and acute pain. It is meant for healthcare professionals who assist patients undergoing diagnostic tests and medical, surgical, and dental procedures, for those who are asked to assist and train medical teams in these techniques, and those who wish to introduce hypnosis programs for acute distress management in hospitals and practices. The teaching will draw heavily on Dr. Lang’s experience training procedure hypnosis in a variety of medical disciplines including MRI, breast care, oncology, urology, gastroenterology, diagnostic and interventional radiology, obstetrics, and dentistry. The course will include approaches for adult and pediatric patient populations.Expert Panel: Chair Assen Alladin, Ph.D.: Case Discussion and Consultation
The panel consists of seasoned therapists with extensive experience in hypnotherapy. The Case Discussion and Consultation will be in two parts. The first part will involve panel discussion of three cases: Enuresis (pediatric), Depression, and PTSD. Each expert will provide his formulation and treatment approach to each case and then it will be summarized by the Chair. In the second part attendees will present their cases to the Expert Panel for consultation and advice. Please come prepared with a written summary of your case.Introductory Workshop: Introductory Hypnosis Training
This 20-hour structured workshop consists of lectures, demonstrations, videos of expert hypnotherapists’, small group (4-6) practice, and written material. The Introductory workshop is needed for both membership in the CFCH and to attend any of the above (intermediate or advanced) workshops.
