Finding a Hypnotherapist

Why see one of "our" professionals? We believe that seeing a hypnotherapist, who is also a licensed health-care professional, increases the likelihood of receiving safe and effective treatment. Why? Here are some of the reasons.

  1. In order to receive their licenses, health-care professionals have passed exams and completed rigorous training set down by their professional schools, and are regulated by the Province; have been supervised by other professionals prior to independent practice; are committed to continuing education and training in order to keep current; subscribe to a code of ethics that is a condition for their continued practice.
  2. You have some means to formally protect yourself in case of question or dispute, because all of our members must hold a license to practice from a Provincial College (e.g., physicians, psychologists, social workers, dentists, etc.). All of the Provincial Colleges have very formal standards by which their members must operate. So you can, if necessary, go to the College and be assured that your concerns will be duly investigated.
  3. Members of our Society have also taken an intensive training course, which includes direct supervision and ethical standards of behavior. This scientifically-based course has been approved for credit by professional bodies in medicine and psychology.
  4. We are not saying that ONLY our members can be good hypnotherapists. But unlicensed hypnotherapists are not accountable for their practice to an independent governing body. We believe that when it comes to treating health-care problems, a licensed professional with approved credentials in hypnosis is your best bet.

If you would like assistance finding a qualified hypnotherapist in your region, please check with your local society for members who accept referrals.
