CSCH-AS is a professional society, which means that all of our full members are licensed health care providers. Only members interested in accepting referrals are entered on our referral database, which also lists contact information, location, and areas of expertise.
We provide several ways through which Albertans can contact the Society's office and request information about our members in their area of the Province. Individuals can request information about professional hypnotherapists in their geographic area, and we provide a list of our members’ names, addresses, professions, and areas of expertise by phone, fax or email.
CSCH-AS is an advisory service and we attempt to facilitate appropriate contact with one of our members. We do not screen for appropriateness of referral, which is the responsibility of the professional receiving the request.
We are not a regulatory or disciplinary body. Complaints, if and when they occur, are to be handled by the appropriate regulatory college, which is mandated to deal with such problems. We are an advisory and educational organization.
Eligibility
- Full membership in CSCH-AS is open to health care professionals who have a doctoral or master's degree in one of the following professions: medicine, dentistry, psychology, chiropractic, social work or nursing, and are members in good standing with their respective regulatory colleges.
- Student membership is open to graduate students in one of these programs.
- Affiliate membership is available to other regulated health care professionals who hold a bachelor's degree.
Training Requirement
A further requirement of Society membership is the completion of an introductory workshop approved by our Society or the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis (ASCH).
Note: Applicants with appropriate academic credentials are admitted as Affiliate members until completion of their Introductory training. Similarly, applicants who are considered provisional in their registration status by their professional college are admitted as Affiliate members pending full registration with their college.
Dues
Annual dues are $155 for full members (this includes membership in the Canadian Federation of Clinical Hypnosis) or $130 for Affiliate membership and $85 for student membership (verification of student status is required). Please note that our membership year is February 1 through January 31.
Discounts for Conferences/Workshops
Members of our Society receive reduced fees for attendance at a number of conferences and workshops both locally and internationally including those sponsored by B.C., Ontario and Nova Scotia Divisions of CSCH, and those sponsored by the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis (ASCH and their component sections across the U.S.), with whom we are affiliated. Savings of $50 to $100 are available to our members over workshop fees paid by non-members.
Discounted prices on professional books and resources are also usually offered to members when they attend our conferences. The discounts are usually between 10 and 15 percent, plus the savings on shipping.
